Character Background

• History: https://naruto.fandom.com/wiki/Sasuke_Uchiha (This is its own novel.)
• Core Relationships:

UZUMAKI NARUTO If Naruto and Sasuke had a status on Facebook, it would definitely be "It's Complicated." Due to a feud between their ancestors and their being the most recent incarnations of Asura and Indra, they were always destined to be enemies who would try to fight to the death eventually, but they were also each others closest friend. As children, Naruto was the only other one in the village who could understand the isolation that Sasuke felt from Konoha after the murder of his family. He thought about befriending him multiple times, but Naruto's immature behavior made Sasuke irritated, and so he continued to ignore his existence as well and focus on his desires for revenge. When they both joined the academy, they became rivals, constantly trying to one up one another. This didn't stop when they were on the same team; if anything, it got that much worse. Team 7 eventually started to feel like family, even with their rivalry, and they slowly became best friends. Sasuke cared deeply for everyone on Team 7, but Naruto in particular began to feel like a brother to him, almost making the ache for Itachi ease. During the Chuunin exams, Sasuke started to notice that Naruto had become stronger than him, and it reminded him how weak he was and how much stronger he needed to become in order to get vengeance for his family's murder. When he was bitten by Orachimaru and given the Curse mark that amplified his anger and hatred, Sasuke's close relationship to Naruto began to fall apart, and slowly formed into jealousy. He was always mildly envious of Naruto's strength and positive attitude, but now he became intensely jealous of every friendship Naruto managed to gain, every step he took into becoming more powerful, of the fact that he had never known bonds before and the pain of losing them. He believed the reason Naruto could make cherished relationships and keep them and he couldn't was because he didn't know the pain of loving someone and having them ripped away from you the way Sasuke did.

When he left Konoha, Naruto chased after him, never giving up on him, determined to have him come back to the village and have everything go back to normal. Sasuke was consistently annoyed by his persistence, becoming more and more furious that he wouldn't let go of their bond, and so he began to try and sever it. He believed the only way he could do so was by killing Naruto and became focused on destroying him in order to gain the power from being truly alone. He acknowledges to the Sage of the Six Paths that Naruto is his best and only friend and that in order to erase the past, he has to get rid of him. Sasuke's desire to kill Naruto ultimately culminated in their final battle at the end of the series where the two pulled out every power they had to destroy one another. Naruto was determined not to kill Sasuke, which only further fueled Sasuke's anger and need to destroy him.

After the two of them used their ultimate final attacks, they end up nearly dead from losing an arm each. They end up in a purgatory like area where Sasuke is forced to acknowledge that he was always envious rather than angry with Naruto and that he had wanted to be loved the way that Naruto managed to find love. He began to show his old self, becoming terrified when Naruto disappears in front of him, not sure what happened to him and no longer wanting to be alone. After seeing Naruto's memories where he had nothing but constant faith in Sasuke and a resolve to save him that never waivered, Sasuke ends up sobbing over the fact that he had one friend who never gave up on him and refused to believe he was incapable of redemption. When he comes to in the real world after this moment, he ends up asking Naruto a series of questions to figure out why he cares so much, and his speech about what friendship means to him makes Sasuke realize how selfish and idiotic he's been. Naruto manages to make him cry, though he does his best to hide it, and while Sasuke tells him to shut up, there's an unspoken promise to him that he will never abandon their friendship or the village again.

Since then, Sasuke has dedicated his life to helping Naruto reach his vision of a peaceful world where all shinobi are welcome and loved. He fights to protect him so he can bring forth this vision and he is able to see how desperately he wants to live in the world that Naruto visualizes. The two of them are considered legendary ninja together and many acknowledge that Sasuke is Naruto's only equal in battle, with neither having actually ever one-upped the other in any of their battles. However, Sasuke will always acknowledge him as being more powerful, as Naruto will always be stronger in heart. His constant love for Sasuke was ultimately what was able to break through his darkness and bring back the loving and loyal person he had been before his family's murder.
HARUNO SAKURA Despite constantly expressing annoyance for Sakura, she is one person who Sasuke has always shown a soft-side to. She had always had a crush on him, even back on Team 7 when they were children, though it took him a great deal longer to reciprocate her feelings. As children, he thought her willingness to ignore training in order to flirt with him childish, and he often told her so. However, as time went on, he started to show how fiercely protective of her he had become, such as when he tells Naruto to protect her from Gaara at all costs or when he risks his life to save her from Zaku in the forest, activating his curse mark in order to destroy the threats around them. Kishimoto is quoted as saying that "Sasuke always loved Sakura ever since she introduced herself to Team 7, but due to Itachi telling Sasuke to not make any bonds, he had to conceal his emotions." He states the instances he shows of jealousy when Sakura hugs Naruto or is saved by him, as well as the moments where he risks everything to protect her, show us the truth of his feelings for her more than his forcing himself to be indifferent. When he goes to leave the village, Sakura is the only one who gets close to stopping him, and he even admits to her that he had hoped that Team 7 could save him from his destiny for revenge. While ultimately he still leaves, he thanks Sakura for having faith in him and trying to help him, before gently knocking her out and laying her on a bench to keep her safe and stopping her from following him like he knew she would. Sakura is one of the only people we see Sasuke show the gentle side of himself to, which is meant to help us see he is capable of being redeemed as his story gets darker.

Kishimoto says that Sasuke has always been grateful to Sakura for loving him, and that "Sasuke has always had deep feelings for Sakura, which were eventually restored and grew stronger once his hatred and desire for revenge faded away." Sakura was the only one who could ever calm the hatred inside Sasuke, which we see in the Chuunin exams when her holding onto him and asking him to stop finally makes the curse mark retreat. When Sasuke is focused on his vengeance, Kishimoto states that Sakura is the last person that Sasuke ever wanted to hurt. We see this reflected when he tells her that if anyone gets in the way of his mission, "even you", he will never forgive them. The emphasis on even you makes it clear that he separates her from others and sees her as something special. Sasuke thinks of Sakura whenever he wants to control his curse mark because of the way she was able to stop it before, showing that he uses her thoughts to keep his hatred under control for some time. The second databook says "The one who filled his lonely existence with the emotion called love was Sakura."

When Sasuke goes insane, it challenges Sakura's feelings for him, especially with the many times that Sasuke attacks Team 7. Sasuke is slowly delving into insanity and ultimately, Sakura believes that he needs to be killed in order to save him from himself. His colder chakra makes it clear to her that he is no longer the Sasuke he used to be, the Sasuke she loved. She ultimately fails and he tries to kill her to protect himself, but fails to do so in the end. Sasuke is never able to actually carry through on his attempts to kill Team 7 at any point, even as he further loses himself to his own insanity. Still, we see glimpses that Sakura and Naruto are the only ones who can get through to him and that he still cares for them, even when he's swallowed up in darkness. When he's with Team Taka, he often compares them to Team 7, and that when he reflects on his time in Konoha, he sees he was never truly alone.

When Sasuke comes back during the war to fight with Team 7 again, Sakura is the only one that he acknowledges, and she is the only one that he tells his plans to become Hokage to. Everyone else hears him, but he is declaring his intentions only to her. When Sakura shows she has become as strong as Tsunade, if not stronger, and destroyed the enemies in front of Sasuke and Naruto, Sasuke gives a smile that almost looks like he's proud of her. He acknowledges that he sees her as stronger when he tells Naruto not to drag the two of them down. Later, when she collapses during their battle with Kaguya, he is there to hold her up. When Sakura confesses that she still loves him and hopes it will stop him from fighting Naruto, he places her under a powerful genjutsu to make her think he tried to kill her, knocking her out. While this seems cruel, he is trying to both sever his bond with her the same way he wants to sever his bond with Naruto, and also confesses later that he did it to protect her. He knew she would follow them if she was conscious, just like he knew she would follow him if he didn't knock her out when he left the village, and he knows she would have ended up in the way, as she had in the past when Naruto and Sasuke fought. It shows that even when trying to sever his bond, he still wanted to protect her.

After nearly dying, Sakura using the last bit of her energy to save both Naruto and Sasuke deeply moves him. He's able to finally understand what love is and how deeply she cares for him after all. She is the first person he asks for forgiveness and she is the first person to accept him after Naruto brings him back to his senses. When he goes to leave Konoha after he is pardoned for his actions, Sakura asks to come with him, and we see him give the expression of love he learned from Itachi; "I'll see you soon"* with a forehead tap, followed by the same thank you he gave when he initially left the village as a child. Sakura is being used to show us Sasuke's new self and that he is finally able to love and be trusted. In the novels, Sasuke only ever returns to Konoha during his redemption missions to save Sakura when she is in danger, putting her safety above his own. We don't even see him willing to come back to the village when his own reputation is in danger, but he does come back for her. In Akatsuki Hiden, Sasuke states that Sakura is the reason he is returning to Konoha, that Naruto's letter where he spoke of her made him realize that she was what he was missing on his mission, and being with her is the same as being home. Sakura's love is a constant reminder of the family he lost through the series and this moment has him acknowledge that her love is what he wants to come home to and start a family with.

* Sasuke's words often get translated to "Maybe next time" to mirror Itachi, but where as Itachi says また今度だ, Sasuke says また今度な, which more accurately translated to "I'll see you soon."
HATAKE KAKASHI Kakashi was the leader of Team 7, but Sasuke didn't always take him as seriously as he should. He found his "lazy" attitude frustrating and often thought he wasn't taking their training seriously enough. It isn't until he starts to see how the lessons he taught them truly improve their team work and make them stronger in their fights that he starts to realize he may have been wrong and that Kakashi knows about how to lead a team better than he does as a genin. Kakashi sees a great deal of potential in Sasuke despite his arrogance and lack of cooperation at first: if anything, Kakashi actually projects his experiences as a ninja onto Sasuke. He sees the relationship between Sasuke and Naruto as mirroring his relationship with Obito as a child. Because of this, Kakashi often tries to intervene with Sasuke on an emotional level to try and teach him there is more to life outside of being a great shinobi.

Kakashi is the first to truly address his needs for revenge. He warns him his sense of superiority was damaging his ability to get stronger and that it was ultimately making him lose peoples' respect and desire to work with him. He emphasizes that vengeance will not ultimately make him happy, that he needed to form bonds with people, that love was what was most important in life. Kakashi was always good at calling Sasuke out on his arrogance and faulty thinking, and when Sasuke would try and tell him he didn't understand, he would remind Sasuke that all of his loved ones had also been killed in front of him, and that he had no one left just like him. Ultimately, his words failed to help Sasuke, as he still left the village, but they left their impact and caused Sasuke to stay as long as he did.

Sasuke lost much of his respect for Kakashi as he slowly went more mad and tried to kill him as often if not more often than any other memeber of Team 7. He took his anger out on him the most because he saw him as part of the problem of the Kage system and viewed his role as a jonin as being on par with excusing the awful things that Konoha had done to the Uchihas, despite him having nothing to do with it. Kakashi lost much hope in him and figured they would have to kill him, agreeing with Sakura that he was no longer the Sasuke they once knew. While he'd started to have hope when he came back to fight with the village, he ended up feeling crushed by Sasuke again when he said he was going to kill the Kage, fight Naruto, and take over the country. Kakashi had felt useless in being able to help Sasuke and to help Team 7 and Sasuke's behavior reminds him of how weak he sees himself.

After the final battle against Naruto, Kakashi is relieved to see Sasuke back to himself. Because Sasuke shows remorse and apologizes to Sakura, and is laughing and happy with Team 7 again, Kakashi is able to see how much he had truly lost himself. Because of this, and Naruto's faith in him, Kakashi helps to defend Sasuke when he is on trial, and as the Rokudaime, he is able to hold much sway in getting him pardoned for his crimes. He emphasizes to Sasuke to not let him regret his decisions as any act of rebellion from that point on will reflect poorly on him. As Sasuke now sees Kakashi as family and has his respect for him again, he does what he can to fulfill his promise to behave, and to make Konoha feel as though they can trust him. Kakashi's guidance is what forms Sasuke's true ninja way and he hopes to now honor that as he moves forward.
UCHIHA ITACHI Itachi is Sasuke's deepest and most complicated bond, even more so than his relationship with Naruto. When they were younger, Sasuke worshipped the ground that Itachi walked on. He looked to him and wanted to be just like him. He envied the attention that Itachi got from their father. He loved him more than any other person and continued to his entire life, even when he was planning on killing him. When he was a baby, he would cry and cry until Itachi would hold him, and only then would he calm down. He would train consistently to be as strong as Itachi and he was always given hope when Itachi would tap his forehead and say they would train together next time, even if next time never came. Everything he did, he did for praise from Itachi.

When Sasuke came home one day to the sight of his family murdered and Itachi standing over them, he was shocked and refused to believe it. Itachi convinced him by putting him in a genjutsu that forced him to relive the murder of their clan over and over again and feel their pain. Sasuke couldn't understand and wanted to know why he didn't kill him as well. Itachi gave him one mission: "There is no value in killing the likes of you… My foolish brother… If you want to kill me… curse me! Hate me! And live a long and unsightly life… Run away… run away… and cling to your wretched life."

Because of this, Sasuke ended up dedicating his entire life to revenge. Itachi was his reason to become stronger. When Itachi sees him again when he is a teenager, he ends up telling him he is still too weak. He breaks his arm and chokes him, forcing him to live through his clan's massacre once again. Itachi informs him that the only way to get as strong as he was is to get the Mangekyō Sharingan by killing his closest friend. It's because of Itachi's message that he becomes fixated on killing Naruto. Sasuke's obsession with revenge leads to him leaving the village and taking a darker path in order to become stronger.

After finally getting to kill Itachi, Sasuke discovers that Itachi had always loved him when he taps his forehead again and says goodbye to him. Sasuke is able to find out about his past by using his now awakened Mangekyō Sharingan to look into his brother's memories. Finding out that he was never truly the evil and cruel person he made himself out to be, Sasuke discovers that his brother was used by Konoha to destroy his own family. The manipulation was only so strong, however, as Itachi could never bring himself to kill Sasuke. Finding out this truth makes Sasuke fall into a traumatic episode that brings on his true psychotic break. He becomes obsessed with destroying Konoha at all costs and killing anyone who stands in his way. He becomes so filled with anger and hatred that he is completely incapable of caring for any person who isn't helping him in his revenge. It's during this time that he tries to kill Karin, Team 7, and tries to destroy Konoha. All because of the tragedy that was brought onto his brother and the pain that he felt for him.

When Itachi comes back to life during the Fourth Shinobi War with a Reanimation jutsu, he is able to make Sasuke see that he never wanted Konoha destroyed, and that he was never bitter about his isolation from the village, as he saw it as his duty to protect Konoha and Sasuke at all costs. His dedication redirects Sasuke's goals and turn him to wanting to become Hokage and change the world. While he misunderstands Itachi's message and believes that being hated and being an enemy people can bond over trying to destroy is the only way to peace, it still makes him realize that he doesn't want to destroy the village at all. He believes that Konoha should be given a chance to be rebuilt and become something new and better than it was before. It isn't until Naruto manages to literally beat it into his head that he misunderstood Itachi's intent that he is able to see how wrong he is. Once Naruto has made him see the truth, he lives his life trying to honor his brother's intents to save and protect Konoha by traveling the world to do the same.

OROCHIMARU Orochimaru is a relationship that has both positive and negative influences in it. While originally Orochimaru wanted to possess Sasuke's body and was obsessed with him due to his kekkei genkai, this grew into becoming more obsessed with Sasuke himself as he grew more powerful. Originally he had planned on taking over his body once Sasuke had managed to reach his most powerful state with his sharingan, and even attempted to take him over at one point, but Sasuke was too powerful for even him to beat. He ended up being consumed by Sasuke and temporarily gave Sasuke extra powers because of it. Eventually he was reincarnated by Sasuke and got his own body again, but he no longer tried to take over Sasuke's body, and instead decided to follow after him as he fulfilled his destiny.

Now, Sasuke and Orochimaru seem to have some sort of mutual understanding of each other. For the most part, Sasuke leaves him alone, and only comes to him when he is in need of information. When Orochimaru needs something of him, Sasuke will often give in to his needs with very little argument, even if he will act put out about it. To an extent, Sasuke feels indebted to Orochimaru for helping him to gain as much power as he did. He also feels some connection to him because of the fact that Orochimaru mostly ended up raising him into his adulthood, fucked up as it may have been, and gave him the option for a quasi-family similar to what he had with Team 7, only far more emotionally unstable.

Orochimaru also taught Sasuke how to be more shut off and violent. While he had morals when he first joined his team that made him opposed to murder and disgusted by Orochimaru's experiments, he eventually allowed him to experiment on his body, and also became more prone to killing when it was needed. Sasuke's ability to shut off his emotions in battle as well as to do what he sees as the necessary thing in battle, even if it isn't comfortable to do.
TAKA Sasuke formed team Taka to help him track down Itachi and to stop others from interrupting him when he went to kill him. The three joined together to accomplish their own goals (Suigetsu to get closer to Kisame, Jūgo because he was sure that Sasuke was the only one who could calm his murderous impulses, and Karin because she was in love with Sasuke), but ultimately, they came to respect one another and came to be something close to friends. They became as close as family in some ways, protecting one another and even caring about each other's safety. Sasuke at one point remarks that they remind him of Team 7, noting that the exiestence of both teams makes him realize that he has never truly been alone.

Sasuke's brutality once he finds out the truth about Itachi is emphasized by his willingness to abandon Suigetsu and Jugo when he finds out Danzō's location. He also fatally wounds Karin when she's taken hostage because he believes she is getting in the way of his path to revenge. The only reason he doesn't end up actually killing her is because Sakura shows up and manages to stop him. Karin emphasizes to Team 7 that Sasuke is no longer the Sasuke they knew, that his chakra has gotten colder than ever, and he's lost himself entirely. His abandonment of Team Taka is meant to show his final cutting of all emotional ties.

Taka dissolved after the war and Sasuke returned to Konoha, however he still sees his former teammates on occasion. As they returned to work for Orochimaru, he is in contact with them for information regularly, and we see him greet them in a similar way to how he greets people he still considers himself friendly with. Jūgo asks him how his journey is going and he is quick to say it's going well, Suigetsu gives him shit and he rolls his eyes in the same way he often does with Naruto, and when Karin gets overly concerned about him having a girlfriend, he informs her it isn't true (in as monotone and disinterested a tone as possible). Team Taka shows how he is still maintaining his connections from when he went insane, rather than running from them, and gives us the message that even when he was completely lost, Sasuke still cared for those around him.
SHIMURA DANZŌ Sasuke had only a very brief interaction with Danzō compared to the other relationships in his life, but it was definitely one of the most impacting. After finding out that his brother had been used and manipulated into killing his family, he decided to go and track down Danzō to make him pay for it. He did ultimately find him and was able to destroy him, but the encounter with Danzō and the confirmation from that Itachi's memories were true made Sasuke go completely insane. It is Danzō's actions that lead to Sasuke's biggest breakdown and turn him into the colder, ruthless villain that he temporarily is in the series. Danzō is also the reason he ultimately ends up deciding he wants to destroy the old Konoha and this also eventually leads to his desire to become Hokage in the final battle. Danzō is the driving force behind Sasuke's darkest decisions and he is still attempting to fully overcome that darkness.

Character Personality Through Key Moments

Positive:
INTELLIGENT & ANALYTICAL Sasuke is consistently shown to be highly intellectual, earning top marks in the Training Academy in everything except for cooperation. e is able to learn the fire technique his father attempted to teach him early on as a child faster than anyone expected (though it is noted that it's not as fast as Itachi, which makes him more determined to learn) and he is able to handle multiple fire jutsus that he should not have been able to learn to control at a young age. Sasuke also analyzes battles before going into them or during the battle itself, training ahead of time to prepare and then altering his approach in the midst of battle. He made sure to heavily prepare himself and up his speed before going against Gaara's sand attacks in the Chuunin exams when he is young. Later on in Part II, he analyzes Orochimaru's state and makes sure to attack him when his body is at its weakest and he is most likely to win. He is able to read Naruto's intentions in their first battle against Zabuza without either of them having to communicate the plan verbally. When they are fighting against Obito, Madara, and Kaguya in the final battles of the Fourth Shinobi War, they are also once again able to fight in almost perfect unison with little communication, and Sasuke is able to analyze the weaknesses of their enemy after fighting against them for only a few minutes.
DRIVEN Sasuke is willing to go to any lengths in order to achieve his goals, often taking it to the point of stubbornness. This is most prominently shown in his willingness to become an enemy of Konoha in order to gain power and defeat the people who destroyed the Uchiha clan. He never lets anything or anyone get in his way and intends to kill those who try and block his path. He insists on doing things his own way, rejecting Itachi's orders to get a more powerful sharingan simply because Itachi was the one who told him to do it. When he is attempting to find Itachi, he suffers a serious injury that Karin has to heal him from. When he is in recovery, he asks Team Taka if they had any information on Itachi's whereabouts, too stubborn and driven to let it go, and angering his team for not taking care of himself. He trains to the point of obsession from the time he is young and this drive to be the best is what makes him a strong rival for Naruto. He continues to show his driven nature when he returns to Konoha after the final battle, determined to go on a journey to redeem himself and make himself worthy of Naruto and Sakura's forgiveness. He goes to several villages over the course of two years to try and make up from the pain he caused and takes it upon himself to keep Konoha safe at all costs.
LOVING While it's hard to picture with how cold and uncaring Sasuke is through most of the series, nearly everything he does is driven by love. He loved his clan so deeply that he dedicates his entire life to trying to avenge them. His love for his brother was what made him so angry at the betrayal, and ultimately it's what pushes him over the edge when he finds out he loved him in return all along. He makes a point of needing to cut off the bonds with the ones he loves most, but is unable to do so with Team 7 no matter how hard he tries. When Sasuke was younger, he protected Team 7 because of his love for them very quickly, willing to jump in front of Sakura whenever she was in danger, and intercepting Naruto in the battle with Haku, saying his body moved on its own without him thinking about it. He was able to harness the mark Orochimaru left on him when Sakura hugged him and begged him to stop hurting people, his love for her conquering the hatred inside of himself. Because he saw Team 7 as family, he was almost able to conquer his need for revenge, telling Sakura that he had hoped that it could stay the way it was for so long, but that his need for revenge was just too strong. And in the end, during the Final Battle, when he and Naruto are bleeding out, it's his finally realizing how loved he is and how much he has waiting for him that gets him to break out of his cycle of hatred. Naruto's unwavering love and friendship reminded him that a family is what he wanted and had all along. Sasuke's love runs deep and is the root of all the beauty as well as all the pain in his life.

Sasuke also tends to show his love in a manner that is humorous and often plays off of his deadpan and cold exterior. He enjoys teasing the people he cares about, particularly Naruto, who he tends to call "loser" now out of affection, and often makes fun of for his impulsive behaviors. He also teases Sakura in a similar manner, calling her annoying when she does something that he finds endearing. At one point later on in their romantic relationship, she leans in for a kiss, but Sasuke turns his back on her. While it seems cold, there is a small smile on his face after and he grips the lunchbox she made a little tighter. He enjoys teasing her over her affection and prefers to express his own physical intimacy in private. Kishimoto has stated Sasuke is traditionally "Japanese" in that sense, where he keeps his intimacy of any kind behind closed doors, and that he is highly attentive to Sakura when no one else is around. We often see Sasuke save his softer side with his friends for when they are alone, being his most straightforward in his connection to Naruto when they talk in private, and when he greets Sakura warmly when she meets him upon his return to the village after two years as no one else is around.
PROTECTIVE One of Sasuke's most obvious traits is how protective he can become of the people that he cares about, or even anyone that he is simply allied with. Protecting Naruto from Haku, letting his curse mark take control to protect Sakura during the Chuunin exams, and his insistence that Sakura kept safe from Gaara are all moments that show his protective nature when he is young. It doesn't go away even once he has become the villain of the story; when Jūgo says that if a woman walked through the door into his cell, he would kill her, Sasuke stops Karin from going through the door first and says that he will go in. During the battle with Killer B, Sasuke wanted to protect Team Taka so badly that he was able to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan in his left eye in order to gain the ability to perform Amaterasu, as well as using his Chidori to protect Karin when she is almost impaled by a tentacle. During the Fourth Shinobi War, even though Sasuke hasn't given up on his desire to be Hokage or destroy the Kage, making him still enemies with Team 7, he makes sure to protect them with Susano'o when the Infinite Tsukuyomi is cast. During the battle with Kaguya, he goes to use his Rinnegan to protect Sakura, but Kakashi is able to beat him to it. Sasuke also becomes protective of his friends when he is redeemed, though he has to do so less in a physical way. When Chino insults Naruto's dreams of a peaceful world, Sasuke becomes fiercely defensive of him, claiming that he is doing everything he can to protect Naruto's dreams and to make sure they come true, as he wants to live in the world that Naruto imagines. He is as protective of the things his friends stands for as he is of their physical well being.

His protective nature also doesn't just cover those he cares for. After he returns to Konoha and is on his redemption mission, Sasuke shows he is still protective of those who are weaker or who are being taken advantage of. When he stumbles on a small village that is being attacked by exploding humans, he is quick to jump in to try to help, even though he gets a less than warm welcome. He ignores their hatred and instead focuses on making sure that as few people die as possible. Later on, when Orochimaru signs him up for a coliseum battle that is similar to the gladiator fights in Ancient Rome, he is furious to find out that rich people are using disadvantaged youths with kekkei genakai for their own entertainment. When he finds out whoever loses the fight is given to the owner of the victor, he decides on how to save everyone, though he doesn't act on it right away. Once he has completed his mission to save Konoha, he comes back to the coliseum and signs himself up for the fights, intending to win all of them and free the people who are trapped by their bloodthirsty owners. He has also dedicated his life to protecting Konoha from outside threats, wanting to keep the village he once sought to destroy safe from harm. Sasuke is protective of anyone who can not protect themselves and will often fight to keep them safe.
HUMBLE While he was once arrogant and full of himself, Sasuke is now the first to admit his faults and to point out his shortcomings. He rarely boasts about his accomplishments and doesn't brag about his power. He is still sure of himself and knows he is a powerful shinobi, but he no longer brags about that power or holds it over peoples heads. Where he used to analyze those he met to see how much better he was than them, such as when he first meets Naruto and Sakura and assumes they're useless and will only drag him down, he now sees people for the strengths they can give and the way they can help one another. Sasuke has been humbled by his experiences as a deserter and now hopes to keep a lower profile to keep his village safe. When the villagers are angry to see him in Sasuke Shinden, he is understanding that they would have many reasons to hate him, and doesn't fight them when they talk poorly of him for what he has done in the past. When Chino is impressed by his skill and praises his talent, he tells her it's simply part of being a shinobi and he isn't anything special. This isn't meant as a put down, but simply an acknowledgement that he is just doing what any ninja would do with the right training. He is willing to admit when he is powerful and able to beat others, such as when he is battling for information about the leader of the Dark Thunder group and he informs his opponent he would be better off just surrendering the information rather than attempting to fight him. When he is helping to rebuild the Bamboo Village, Sasuke is able to reflect on the fact that the Dark Thunder Group was able to use his image and his previous messages to cause such massive destruction and pain. It causes him to reflect on his own past and wonder if atonement is even possible, once again humbled by his own actions rather than being able to disconnect from the person he used to be. Sasuke's awareness of his own flaws is why he chooses to stay away from Konoha for long periods of time, knowing that the choices he made in the past can bring harm to Konoha.

Negative:
COLD & RUTHLESS After the murder of his family, Sasuke emotionally cut himself off from those around him. He was siolated and ostracized by much of the town, and learned quickly he couldn't rely on anyone to take care of him but himself. He is targeted by Orochimaru because of his cold, angry demeanor making him the perfect candidate for the curse mark that feeds off of hatred. Sasuke continuously shows he is willing to kill or let people die if it gets in the way of a mission. At the most extreme of this, when Danzo takes Karin hostage in order to try and protect himself from Sasuke's attacks, Sasuke stabs through her with his lightning sword in order to kill Danzo, claiming that she was now useless and in the way since she got herself kidnapped and he no longer care if she died. When fighting Kaguya to save the world, he tells Naruto they can't afford distractions, and that they need to keep each other alive as they are the only ones who can defeat Kaguya and neither will be able to do it without the other. He makes it clear this means that they can not always prioritize saving Kakashi or Sakura, especially if it puts either of their lives at risk. While he has improved in his demeanor some since the Final Battle, he is still willing to kill when he deems it necessary, knowing that no ninja can always think with their heart. He is also still straight forward and cold in most of his interactions, such as when Chino is trying to tell him her story that mirrors his; a clan that was wiped out in one night, growing up alone and used by those around her, made to feel like she was nothing and bent on getting revenge for the murder of her family. She is still on her path to revenge and rather than telling her he understands or trying to comfort her, Sasuke immediately tells her that she is foolish and that she is ignoring those who love her. He is willing to kill her to stop her when it means keeping Konoha safe, but he takes the time to tell her that she is selfish and unable to see that her one true friend is trying to keep her safe and wants her to live a life of happiness, not pain and anger. He relates it back to his friendship with Naruto and tells her to stop being an idiot and to try and live in the world her friend wants rather than holding on to an anger that only destroys. It gets through to Chino, and he takes her to Konoha and puts her in jail for her crimes. No matter how empathetic he is with someone's motives, he will always believe in justice first, and he will serve that justice himself if he deems it necessary.
ENVIOUS/JEALOUS Sasuke has an extreme problem with envying others and being jealous when they have things he wants for himself. Sasuke's issues with Naruto primarily stemmed from the envy that Naruto was able to make connections with others and that his friendship group grew while Sasuke remained alone because of his own actions. He was envious of Naruto when he was able to see his father reincarnated and speak to him during the Fourth Shinobi war, when he hasn't been able to ever see his family again. He was envious of others for having families and being accepted when he had neither. He was envious of how powerful Naruto became so easily because of the kyuubi chakra. He was envious of Sakura's ability to be light-hearted and not think so heavily about future consequences and about her ability to control her chakra so easily, especially when she didn't seem to care to work on perfecting it in their youth. While he has worked on this over the years, it is far from something that goes away naturally or even completely.
QUICK-TEMPERED While Sasuke is normally calm and even, he still has a temper that flashes hot quicker than people expect from someone as quiet as him. He can go from completely at ease to furious in seconds when someone hits on a topic that hooks him. Unlike Sakura and Naruto, his anger is not usually given in explosive fits, but through cold, cruel statements and icy glares. When they are young, Sakura gives a heartless statement about Naruto, blaming his being parentless for why he is so ill behaved. Sasuke glares at her and tells her to shut up, that she doesn't know anything about the loneliness that comes from being an orphan, and that she's an annoyance who should leave him alone. Whenever he sees Itachi before their final fight, he is quick to become enraged, charging in head first without thinking, only wanting to attack and kill. After his redemption, even when he's let go of most of his anger, he still becomes quickly temperamental when he is met with injustice. At the coliseum fights, he goes quiet and clenches his fists, wanting to find a way to save the fighters from rich greed. When Io states that he wipes out the families of kekkai genkai in order to make them more valuable or to kidnap them, he grows dangerously cold, and when he continues to talk of them as collectibles, he eventually gets up and storms out, slamming the door behind him rather than continuing to listen to someone who could provide valuable information to his mission. While he has learned to control the reaction to his temper, he is still quick to get furious over specific things. This is likely a trauma reaction, but since when does Konoha care about mental health?
GUILT-RIDDEN This is probably Sasuke's strongest flaw. Ever since his redemption, Sasuke feels as though he can never make up for all of the things that he has done to people. He claims he is going on a redemption mission to make up for his past sins and is gone for over two years, not really sure how to make progress in making himself a good person again. When the Dark Thunder group uses his identity to do cruel things, he wonders how he will ever make up for the pain he caused in the past when his reputation and message are still being spread by others. When he tells Chino about Naruto, he talks about his past as though it is a burden he can never let go of, unable to ever rid himself of his darker memories. He agrees with Orochimaru that they will never really be different, that the people they let themselves be will always keep them separate and ostracized from the rest of society no matter how much good they try to put into the world. Unlike Orochimaru, Sasuke is still determined to make up for his actions, not wanting to allow himself to fall back inot his anger and cruel self. He believes he doesn't deserve Naruto's friendship or Sakura's love because of the way that he has treated them both, even though they both have tried to tell him all is forgiven. He is unable to truly accept that people can still are for him and believes he has to prove himself to be worthy of being cared about continuously.
LACKING SOCIAL SKILLS Being isolated as a young child and then spending the majority of his formative years outside of the village as a traitor, Sasuke hasn't exactly learned how to be like most other people. The two years he spent alone on his redemption mission did little to help with it, as he couldn't even practice what little social interaction he was getting before. Because of this, Sasuke can often times say things that are awkward, or be blunt in a way that he doesn't always even realize is cruel or rude. From a young age, he decided to no longer use honorifics with others, which was seen as a form of disrespect by others. When he teams up with Chino, who is very sociable and chats away, Sasuk eis unsure of how to actually interact with her and stays silent rather than try to continue to hold a conversation. He often times gives short replies that are hard to respond to in turn and so awkward silences can often grow in conversation. He is unsure how to interact with his own friends and is usually only aware he has upset someone after the fact. Kakashi at one point in the series sees how terribly Sasuke is performing with those he cares about and offers to teach him how to be better with people. Unfortunately, he teaches him skills from a pornographic novel, Make-Out Tactics, and doesn't tell him it's usually for romance, not just platonic relationships, which makes his actions that much more awkward to everyone around him. He was unable to see how they might be awkward ahead of time due to his lack of awareness on how to interact with others to begin with, and is only able to see what went wrong when he reads the book himself and becomes frustrated with Kakashi for those lessons. If he had been aware of socila norms ahead of time, he would have been able to see the romantic gestures for what they were, rather than performing them without thought.
RECLUSIVE To put it mildly, Sasuke sucks at reaching out to others. Like his social skills, these are mostly learned behaviors, due to the isolation as a child, and then his leaving the village later on. Rather than reaching out for help, Sasuke pulls back from other sand chooses to be alone. His entire search for power relies on becoming completely alone, culminating in his less than genius idea to become Hokage by ridding himself of all attachment and making himself the most hated person in all the majors lands in order to keep all the villages united in their desire to hate one person. His major motive has always been to be alone, until Naruto is able to show him that what he really needs is love. While he now no longer strives to not have connections with others, he still gets overwhelmed by too many people, and prefers to spend his time in small groups or by himself. He doesn't seem to mind being alone even without his hatred, as he spends much of his time traveling, and shows no hurry to get back to the village until he realizes how much he misses Sakura and Naruto.

Deer Country Attributes

• Canon Powers: Sasuke is considered to be a legendary shinobi, one of the most powerful fighters in his world, and Naruto's only equal. Because of that, he has a stupid amount of powers, and I'm so sorry for them.

CHAKRA: This is an essential life force that is required to perform any jutsus in the Naruto world. It's manipulated through a series of hand signs As an actual physical thing with multiple chakra points throughout the body, the largest one being in the heart, chakra is a limited source. When a shinobi uses up their chakra, they need time to replenish it, and can severely injure or even kill themselves if they use too much without resting and push themselves too far. As a reincarnation of Ōtsutsuki Indra, Sasuke's chakra is extremely powerful, with a larger reserve than most shinobi, and a heightened ability to control it, though it's noted that he's weaker in his control than Sakura and Naruto.
TAIJUTSU: This is basically just martial arts skill and physical prowess. Sasuke is highly capable in hand-to-hand combat and can hold his own against multiple opponents and enemies who are much larger than him. He has a higher rate of speed than most in his world and uses it to his advantage regularly. It also makes his reaction time faster than most other fighters so he can dodge many attacks with what seems like ease. This ability is enhanced by his sharingan/rinnegan, which will be explained more in those sections. It's also speculated by Sakura that Sasuke had genetic manipulations done to him by Orochimaru when he was under his care that could have enhanced these abilities further as well, but canon never makes it clear if that's true. Sasuke can still be one upped by others and gets his ass kicked on the regular (Gaara, Rock Lee, and obviously Naruto, for quick examples), so he's far from invincible. He's just an above averagely skilled fighter.
MEDICAL NINJUTSU/HEALTH: Sasuke's ability to control his chakra as well as the higher reserves he naturally has makes it so that he can heal faster than the average person. He learned the same basic medical ninjutsu as other shinobis when he was getting basic training, which allowed him to channel his chakra to heal more serious injuries when needed, whether his own or injuries in others. On top of that, he also does have confirmed manipulation from Orochimaru that made him immune to nearly all ingestible poisons. He is still impacted by poisons which are in gas forms and it is possible for him to end up poisoned by any toxins that are different from anything Orochimaru would have been unfamiliar with. Sasuke also gained increased healing ability when he was given Hagoromo's power in the final war, though unlike Naruto, he doesn't seem to choose to use it very much on others. Despite having these increased abilities, he is still vulnerable to injury, can be pretty easily killed if he's one-upped in battle, and he can't heal extreme or even fatal injuries in any way other than to barely keep himself alive until he gets help. Even when he is healed by those with more powerful medical ninjutsu, it takes several days before Sasuke is able to be back on his feet or have enough chakra reserves to be able to perform basic jutsus.
SUMMONING TECHNIQUE: Sasuke can summon snakes to use in battle. He's used them for transportation, as shields, and also for use in binding jutsus to disable an opponent. He can also summon hawks, which he usually uses for sending messages, though he has also been seen summoning larger hawks to ride on during battle. His most impressive summon is Manda, a strong and extremely large snake who he had to create a blood seal with in order to summon him. After Manda dies, he is able to summon Aoda, who is much more loyal to him. He can also summon a large hawk named Garuda.
BUKIJUTSU: This is literally just a section to say he's stupid good with weapons. He has the ability to infuse them with his own chakra, allowing him to make his sword or shuriken he is throwing to become covered in lightning or flame to deal extra damage to a target. He also creates what he calls the Lightning Flash Black Creation. This allows him to seal multiple kunai and shuriken into his bracelets which gives him the ability to summon large amounts during a battle as needed.
NATURE TRANSFORMATIONS: These are jutsus that allow him to do various battle techniques that are rooted in the elements. Sasuke has control over all elements, but he has an affinity for fire and lightning releases specifically. He is skilled in the other releases, but they are not nearly as strong and so he doesn't tend to perform water, air, etc. unless he's using it to boost his fire and lightning techniques. He can use the lightning techniques to make him move faster as well, taking in the energy from the electricity and doing... something fancy with it, they actually don't explain it, it just makes him move at lightning speed. Get it??? Anyway, these jutsus include his family's Great Fireball Technique and Chidori, which he learned from Kakasshi. When he gets the Six Paths power in the final battle sequences of the war, he can make the lightning purple, but it doesn't seem to change anything about it. Fun fact, it's the same shade of purple as his stupid rope belt. I don't think that has any significance to this power section but it's good to know that he's got an aesthetic.
SHARINGAN: The dōjutsu kekkei genkai of the Uchiha clan. It's considered one of the greatest dōjutsu in existence, along with the Byakguan and the Rinnegan. There's a lot of history there, but basically these eyes can kick ass, and the Sharingan in particular is manifested from emotional trauma, usually around someone they love dearly, so it holds a certain weight emotionally as well as for power. Sasuke's is exceptionally powerful compared to most others and he can use it to copy movements of whoever he is fighting against, track objects, and predict the movements of his opponents. He can also perform genjutsu with it, which can be used to create hallucinations, temporarily paralyze another person, dive into their memories or dreams and gain information, forcefully pulling information from another person, erasing memories, dispelling other genjutsus, and controlling beings with powerful chakra such as the Kyuubi. Sasuke awoke a mutated form of the Sharingan, the Mangekyō Sharingan, when his brother died. This form of Sharingan can make the user go blind unless they gain the eternal version, which Sasuke did once he gave in and took his brother's eyes in order to get this form. The eternal form also uses less chakra which tires Sasuke out less quickly when it's activated and to move with far more fluid movements at greater speed than he could before activating it. The Mangekyō Sharingan also allows him to use Amaterasu, a black flame that eternally burns, only going out once whatever it is burning is completely destroyed, or the user puts it out. Sasuke currently has the Mangekyō Sharingan in his right eye.
SUSANO'O: Susano'o is a technique that comes from the Mangekyō Sharingan when it is awoken in both eyes, which Sasuke did before he got the Rinnegan in his left. Sasano'o is basically a manifestation of Sasuke's chakra, is bright purple in form, and looks like a giant samurai with multiple swords. It's an extension of his will and moves with his body, allowing him to fight extremely large beasts such as the Kyuubi or to have a chance at going up against much more powerful, god-like opponents. He is primarily used as a shield to block Sasuke from getting too much damage from much stronger attacks. He can also use it to shield others, such as when he wraps it around Naruto's Kyuubi chakra when they fight together, creating one cool looking Power Ranger worthy mother fucker. There's a somewhat natural limit to using Susano'o as the sharingan activation drains energy quicker than when he just uses his normal eye, and it also is exceptionally painful to use. He at one point describes it as causing pain in every single cell of his body and says it feels like he's being ripped apart. He's often left extremely exhausted by the use and only pulls it out when absolutely necessary. Normally Susano'o can become larger than skyscrapers, mimicking the size of more kaiju in Japanese films, but I would limit him to only being able to do his personal-sized version which can encompass three people. If he pulls out the full-sized version, he'll likely only be able to maintain it for one or two minutes before he'd collapse, which outside of when he had the Six Paths powers, was about how long he could canonly anyway.
RINNEGAN: Sasuke awoke the Rinnegan in his left eye with the Six Paths' chakra. This is permanently active, unlike his sharigan, and so he usually covers it with his hair so people don't try and steal his eyes from him. Despite being active, so long as it is only in its base formation, without the three tomoe active, it doesn't drain any of his chakra or stamina from being active. It enhances his pattern recognition from his sharingan, decipher writing in code or foreign languages, and helps him to see invisible targets. He also has access to the Six Paths techniques, though we don't actually see him ever do so, so it's unclear how strong he would be with these techniques.
SPACE-TIME JUTSU: Sasuke's unique ability with the Rinnegan involves being able to look into and manipulate space-time. He can use it to somewhat see into the future, usually by only a few seconds/minutes, but long enough to improve his reaction time ten-fold before something can occur. He can also use the Amenotejikara, which allows him to switch places with specific targets within a certain range. This can include switching places with a weapon he threw earlier in order to get out of range of an attack or to set a trap for an enemy, like the Fourth does with his Lightning Flash jutsu. However unlike the Fourth, he doesn't need a specific seal in order to switch places, he simply needs to have the weapon in visible range of his Rinnegan. While we see him use this jutsu to travel between actual realities/create portals between universes and dimensions, it's only done in the Boruto series and there's no signs that he can achieve this yet from his canon point.
SHADOW CLONE TECHNIQUE: Sasuke can make up to eight clones of himself that he can use at once. It takes up a great deal of chakra and the more clones he makes, the more it drains him. He will feel and experience everything that his clone underwent the moment that it disappears and rejoins his chakra flow, which can be extremely disorienting or even damaging depending on the circumstances. Because of this, he doesn't do it very often. Clone techniques can be used to create a copy of himself with inanimate objects to trick enemies and unlike the Shadow Clone, he does not take the damage of this single clone when it's injured, making it less dangerous and draining. It's limited to only one copy at a time. He can also use clone techniques to alter his appearance, allowing him to look like anyone else if he wants to, or create an entirely new appearance (ala the Sexy no Jutsu Naruto does and that Sasuke will literally die before doing.) This can only be held temporarily and once he runs out of steam, he will revert to his own appearance.

• Blood Type: Darkblood
• Omen: Hawk
• Blessed Day: July 23rd, it's his birthday.
• Patron Pthumerian: The Reckoning. This is... basically Sasuke in a much more bad ass form, and he would agree in general about the sense of justice that the Reckoning seeks out. At the most, he might find the violent retribution portion of it a little hooking to his previous self, but overall he would find her to be pretty impressive.
• Blood Power Manifestation: As I don't plan on weakening Sasuke's canon powers too significantly, his blood power manifestations won't be very major. Sasuke also already has time/reality alteration powers, so much of it will simply manifest through strengthening the ones listed above. I might use it to help him jump through a limited type of portal like he can later in the series, but it would take a lot of training before he could get there, and obviously wouldn't allow him to leave the setting of the game. I will have it mirror is earliest canon manifestations, where he could go into pocket dimensions to escape explosions or aggressive attacks, but he stays in the same general universe, popping out a few seconds later when the attack is over. It'd be... a while before he could manifest this, given that it takes him 10+ years to master in canon.

The only blood power that will manifest separately that he didn't have before will be telekinesis, which will give him the ability him to move objects short distances. This will allow him to pull a weapon towards him that is just out of reach or to somewhat help him with his missing arm, letting him hover an object beside him if he doesn't have his hand free to hold it. I'll have him discover this over time and he'll train to strengthen it once he realizes he has the power.
